This is just a really quick....assembly only desert that the kids will love!!! You can even have them assemble them it is that easy and a great way to get them involved in the kitchen. When kids make it themselves....they love it even more!!! So let them have fun today with some of those apples. They can do the work....and you will love them too!!
APPLES IN A BLANKET
5 APPLES 1 PKG PILLSBURY PIE CRUST (2 PIE CRUSTS) 2 EGG YOLKS BEATEN CINNAMON SUGAR CHOCOLATE SAUCE FOR DIPPING CARMEL SAUCE FOR DIPPING
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
If you have an apple corer/slice that is great, we can use that. If not just slice the apples trying to keep the slices a uniform size.
Cut the skin off of the individual slices.....
Unroll your pie crust and slice lengthwise into 2" wide strips. Wrap each slice twice around the with the pie crust strip covering most of the apple. Just as you would a Pig in the Blanket.....
Brush them all with the beaten egg yolk.....
Sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.....
Bake at 350 degrees for about 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown......
They are like little bite sized apple pies.....kids love finger food. And kids love making their own food. So now it's all up to you....and the kids. You can make a beautiful tray of these for your next desert table with the dippers of your choice. I like using carmel sauce and chocolate sauce but there are soooo many options....peanut butter...a white sugar icing...etc. You guys decide....have fun!!
