Desert Tables are one of my favorites things to do. Give me a theme and I can create a gorgeous display of all kinds of creations. I have done everything from birthday parties to wedding showers, baby showers and.....Halloween. I thought since Halloween was coming up I would show you my last Halloween table and give you some ideas for your parties coming up. So this is not really a recipe page but an ideas page.....you can look back to the website for different cupcake recipes.
I like to make a variety of cupcakes so there will definitely be something for everyone. But since Halloween is about the kids, I stuck to your basic vanilla and chocolate. That all works out great with the decorations anyway....chocolate makes great spiders. And vanilla....awesome ghosts!!!
So the first cupcake I did.....chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. But here's the trick....throw an Oreo in the batter before you bake the cupcakes and there will be a nice surprise when they bite into it.....yummmm!!! You can find that recipe for Oreo Stuffed Cupcakes on my website. But I did not use that frosting here. You would not be able to get it through the bag because it was a cookies and cream icing and you have to use a wide tip with the crushed cookies in the icing. So I just used a already basic chocolate frosting. When you frost....fill a pastry bag and use a very thin round tip. make a mound first in the middle with a spoon, cause that's sooo much easier, and then with the bag make lines or....... a hairy spider by starting at the top down along side the cupcake...just like hairs. Just take a look at mine and you will get the idea....
I got the little eye balls and the spider legs at the party store but you can always use pretzels for legs. Aren't they adorable????
The next cupcake were my ghosts. Again, keep it simple with a basic vanilla cupcake and simple vanilla frosting. If you do want to kick them up a notch....you can look in my recipe box for my Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Stuffed Cupcakes. They are amazing.....but it's up to you. So here, I just filled the pastry bag and used a very wide round tip to kind of create the cloud for the little candy ghosts to sit on .....check it out!!! Again, these are just pictures of what I have done in the past or suggestions, please make it your own and send me pictures. I would love to add every ones ideas to this page.
Lastly, for this desert table....I made some Green Monsters!! You can find all these great toppers at the party store and make these awesome looking cupcakes yourself at home. And they are fun to make with the kids. Let them get in there and help decorate. It will be soooo much fun and great to get the kids involved in the kitchen even if you give them the simple jobs like sprinkles!!! Go for it...its Halloween. Have a blast!!!
Next, for my Grandchildrens Halloween parties at school, I did some Rice Krispie Lollipops. I made a double batch in a giant pan and used 3 different cookie cutter shapes to cut them out. We stuck a lollipop stick in. We then dipped them in chocolate, regular, white and orange.....added eye on some and eyes and mouths on others and this is what we ended up with...........
A GHOST.........
A BAT................
AND A PUMPKIN..................
ARE THEY ADORABLE OR WHAT?????????????
So go have some fun in the kitchen with the kids!!!! Make some cupcake or pops for their Halloween parties this week!! They were all a big hit at school and at home. And that's what it's all about......getting the kids in the kitchen!!! We wish you all a very Happy Halloween!!!
