I have been waiting to say those words for a long time now. I had no idea they would be those exact words, but I have always had the passion and love of cooking since I was young. It wasn't until the past five years that I would be calling myself NANA!!! Three of the most beautiful, adorable grandchildren entered my life... one at a time... each bringing their own amazing personality and flavor to our family. They named me... NANA!!
CRAZY!!! Let me say that it is with the happiest of happiest intentions that I describe us as CRAZY!! It is our own little chaotic world. Coming from an Italian family, chaos is kind of normal and so much fun. Any given Sunday with my own family, which totals 11 people is plenty to cook for. Then I invite my brother's family of 9 and my sister's family of 8 and I am feeding 27 before you know it. That's when the chaos begins. That's what I call CRAZY FUN!! I love every minute of it!!!
There is much more to my story in the "About Nana" section, I hope you will follow along with my family as we take each day, one meal at a time. Our lives revolve around food, fun and most importantly...making memories. That is my true goal here. There were an amazing amount of memories growing up in my family and especially...for me...in the kitchen with my grandmother. Learning how to make so many different foods through the years. I cherish every moment in my mind, but don't actually have much to look back on. Especially her recipes, she never wrote them on paper. There's a couple she actually put into song for me as a kid, so I would remember them. The words that always come back to me when I try something new are straight from her, "There's all good stuff in there, of course it's gonna be good!!" In today's world, we have the benefit of technology. It is so easy to take pictures and document my recipes to have forever. It makes me so happy to be able to do this and to share my world of food with everyone who is interested. Knowing that someday one of my children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews may take a look back at this and remember me or our family is truly priceless. If it puts a smile on one of their faces or one of the faces that may try a recipe and like it, I will have met my goal!!
So, there you go. I am not professionally trained. Although I have taken many different classes here and in Italy. I am a home cook who loves when people eat and come together and enjoy!! Welcome to Nana's Kitchen!
