Are you ready for some FOOTBALL????? Haha...I'm not so sure but I am sure that the boys in this family are. And I am sure that they love to sit on the couch all day and eat!!! Well here is a great tip for your leftover steak that you may have made during the week. I usually make extra so I will have plenty left over to make these open faced sandwiches for them on a Sunday...or Monday night....or Thursday night. FOOTBALL....FOOTBALL....FOOTBALL!!! So skip the nachos this week...skip the chili....make a steak sandwich. Actually...make it all!!!
CHEESY STEAK SANDWICHES
PREPARED GRILLED STEAK 1 LARGE ONION SHREDDED MEXICAN CHEESE 1/2 STICK OF BUTTER SALT & PEPPER THIN SLICED ITALIAN BREAD (OR BREAD OF YOUR CHOICE)
Hopefully, like I said, you have already prepared your steak. If not.....soooo easy, just season your choice of cut of meat (I used filet mignon but use whichever you choose). Season well with salt & pepper and maybe a steak seasoning. Grill away!!
So when you are ready to make your sandwiches....grab a griddle!! Or a regular frying pan if you don't have a griddle. Heat the butter. No, now's not the time to worry about your weight.....we will get back to those salads eventually!! Add the thin sliced onions. Season them well with salt & pepper.
Saute them until carmelized, brown and beautiful!!!!!
Grab your steak and slice it thin. When your onions are done get them in the pan. At this point your steak only needs to be heated through since it is already cooked.
So just once the steak is heated through just completely cover the top with the shredded cheese. Throw on as much as you like......then add some more!! Haha...the more cheese the better!!
Just give it some time over a low flame and the cheese will melt all into your steak!!
OMG......look at that!!!! REALLY???? Tell me who wouldn't be happy to see this!!
Now just toast your bread. You can choose any type of bread but my son loves when I use a thin sliced Italian bread. Toasted with a good crunch!! I used a skillt with....yes a little more butter!!
Now just build that sandwich. Go ahead...pile it up high with all that steak, onions and cheesy goodness!!!
Yes, this could be yours!!! So make some steak for dinner tonite or just plan to grill some on Sunday....or Monday...or Thursday!! And I will keep bringing you some great Football day suggestions.
