Great for a party....great for Gameday....great for anytime!!! You can never go wrong with sliders!! This is a Steak Slider on a toasted bun with a drizzle of my Basil Oil, topped with arugula. Then brushed with more Basil Oil and a sprinkle of grated cheese on top!! What's not to like???
STEAK SLIDERS
3 OR 4 PIECES OF FILET MIGNON (OR ANY STEAK YOU PREFER) SLIDER ROLLS 1 STCIK OF BUTTER 6 OR 7 FRESH SAGE LEAVES ARUGULA BASIL OIL PECORINO ROMANO CHEESE
I used Filet Mignon in this recipe, which is soooo tender and delicious, but you can use any cut of steak you prefer. I seasoned the steak well with salt & pepper. Heated about 2 TBLSP of Olive Oil in a skillet until it was screaming hot. Then Cooked the steak approximately 5 minutes on each side. Try to leave it rare at this stage since we will be cooking the meat again.
Let your meet rest and cool off a bit. Then slice it up!!!
Now in the same pan, heat the butter to a simmer and add the sage leaves. Let the leaves fry for a couple minutes in the oil to release it flavors. Then add the slices of meat and fry for only 2 minutes or so depending on how well done you like your meat. While it is cooking stir the meat to coat all with the butter/sage flavors.
While this is happening you can slice your rolls and get them into the oven cut side up on a low broil till they brown nicely.
Lay your slices of steak on each. How ever much you like. Drizzle with the Basil Oil. Or....if your like my son....Chipotle Sauce!! Top with a bit of arugula and top each roll.
Now, bring it over the top. If your a fan of the Basil Oil just brush the tops of each roll with some. Sprinkle with some grated Pecorino Romano Cheese and get it back into the oven on a low broil. It will only take a couple minutes to toast the tops so keep a close eye.
These are soooo delicious. You can totally change it with any toppers or sauces you prefer. Have fun with them and......
