Here is a classic soup that you can do in your crock pot. It seems everyone wants a slow cooker recipe at this time of year. So here you go. Throw it all in the pot in the morning and you will come home to a delicious soup when you return. Couldn't be easier than that. Pair it with a quick sandwich or salad and you got a great dinner.
PEA SOUP
1 BAG OF DRIED PEAS 8 CUPS OF WATER 1 MEDIUM ONION DICED 1 CUP CARROTS DICED 1 HAM STEAK DICED 2 TSP SALT 2 TSP PEPPER 2 TSP MARJORAM
This is a typical slow cooker recipe, where you are just going to get all the ingredients into the crock pot. Simple as that!!!! Start by preparing the onion, carrots and ham. Get them all diced.....
Add them and the remaining ingredients into the crock pot. Cover and cook on high for about 6 hours or a lower setting if you want it to go about 8 hours.
So there is one last thing to do.......you will see a layer of liquid that has settle on top of the soup. If you skim this off the top, your soup will become very thick....just the way I like it!!! Up to you though, if you like your soup on the thinner side, just stir it all in. It is just the water settling on top. So it's all a matter of taste.
This is a great crock pot recipe. It will literally take you 10 minutes in the morning and you will come home to a beautiful, delicious home cooked bowl of soup. So worth the try on a cold Fall day!!
