If you are going to a July 4th celebration, or having a party yourself, this is a great refreshing and light treat to bring. You can have the ingredients and put them together in a flash when ready....or you and your guests can have fun putting their own together. Either way, they are so quick, easy and delicious with the homemade fruit compotes that whoever you are serving will be impressed. Never mind all that... beautifully Patriotic!!
Today, I had the pleasure of making these with our Jr. Circle Chef, Angelina. Along with Angelina, we have her beautiful cousin, Natalie!!! Natalie joined us on a couple days of fun in the sun and creating a couple of great July 4th celebration desserts you can make with the Juniors!! We had a blast making all of them and hope you enjoy making these at your next get togethers.
PATRIOTIC PARFAITS
3 CUPS OF FRESH CHOPPED STRAWBERRIES 3 CUPS OF BLUEBERRIES 1 CUP SUGAR 1/2 CUP WATER VANILLA ICE CREAM
CLEAR GLASSES (PLASTIC CUPS) FOR SERVING WHIPPED CREAM IF DESIRED
We started by getting the chopped strawberries and blueberries in two separate small pots. To each pot of fruit add....1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Bring each to a slow simmer for about 10 minutes.
Let them both cool...put in a tupperware container and refrigerate until ready to use.
When it's dessert time....just grab your containers of fruit, ice cream and clear cups and have fun!! Like I said you can prepare these for your guests or make a little Parfait Bar and let them go to town. Add ingredients like whipped cream and maraschino cherries to stick to the Patriotic theme, Be creative, have fun and share with us afterwards!! All good stuff!! Enjoy!!
