This is a recipe that our daughters boyfriend Roger brought to the table!! I think he had it at a party somewhere and asked me to recreate it and it is now a regular on my grill. That's because it is the simplest marinade ever!!! And sooo good. I love skirt steak...flank steak and of course hanger steak. They are all so tender and hard to ruin...Haha!! They are great on a grill and with so many different marinades. I am actually not a huge barbeque sauce lover. I think that is why I love this recipe. Its like a lighter version of a barbeque sauce. Just not so thick and over powering. Yet there is a bit of barbeque sauce in it so you get the flavors. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it as much as our family does. I am having all the kids over for lunch today and thought I would make a big salad with this grilled steak on top. They are going to love it!!
SIMPLE SKIRT STEAK
3 lbs skirt steak 1 cup wishbone italian dressing 1 cup ketchup 2 cups coke 1/2 cup barbeque sauce ( any favorite of yours)
Start with some beautiful skirt steak....I make alot to feed my family so you can cut the amounts in half if you like. But think about it....it will be great left over on that salad for lunch tomorrow.
Now I said simple...and it can't get any simpler than this. Put the remaining ingredients in a bowl and whisk them together. Pour it over the steak and let it marinate for a few hours. I usually like to do this in the morning so it has all day to sit. Of course, as always, take it out of the refrigerator and let it sit on the counter for a bit to bring it to room temperature before putting on the grill.
Now get your grill on!!! Your want to grill this steak on a high heat for a nice sear on the outside. It is also a pretty quick cooking steak. Probably about 10 minutes on each side but of course, adjust the temperatures to how you like your steak. Then I sliced it up and put it on top of a great big salad....delicious!!!
