Strawberries in wine have been on my family's table for as long as I can remember....... and way longer than that. It is absolutely the biggest reminder of my grandmother. When I was old enough, it was always my job to slice the strawberries. It is one of the first jobs I can remember in her kitchen, because I was probably doing this by the age of 5. I can also tell you, that I was definitely eating this by that age as well. It's still one of my favorites!! I don't think I have ever see this anywhere, besides our family table, even as simple as it is. So refreshing and delicious, it was always the course after dinner, but before dessert. Give it a try...it may stay in your family for years to come.
STRAWBERRIES IN WINE
3 CONTAINERS OF STRAWBERRIES 1/2 CUP SUGAR 2 CUPS RED WINE OF YOUR CHOICE 1 CUP WATER
Wash strawberries and slice them thin as I did.
Pour the sugar over them and stir to coat them all.
Add the wine and water. Now, you have to let it marinate. We would usually make this in the morning for after dinner. It is best to let it sit for atleast 8 hours. You definitely could make this the night before also.
Doesn't this look amazing???
I love to serve this in either of these glasses. Just so beautiful!!
